After looking around for a good mouse to play games like CS:GO and Dota 2 with, I stumbled upon this beauty. The problem with a lot of gamers looking to buy a mouse, is that they want something that looks ultra cool with tons of flashy lights, and something that fits their $20 budgets. They also want something that will feel and play good, better than their choppy Walmart wireless mouse. I'm sorry to say, but that really cool looking $20 mouse that you found here on amazon that has more lights than a house decorated for Christmas, is NOT going to preform well or last long at all. So then, what can I buy for a decent price that looks cool, AND preforms well enough to make a difference? That is exactly what this mouse is, affordable, accurate and swag-driven.There are a ton of pros to cover here. TL;DR, it is the best you can get for it's price. The overall feel of this mouse is wonderful. Unlike that cheep mouse you are probably using now, it has a heavier weight to it, and it fits perfectly in my hand. I have a medium sized hand, and it fits wonderfully. If I were complain about anything, I would simply tell you that you are going to have to get used to it once you start getting used to it. I find that when people use my mouse that aren't used to it, they accidentally click the sensitivity buttons (DPI adjusters) right next to the left-click button. It takes very little time to get used to avoiding these buttons, and having smaller fingers might also help. As far as the weight goes, you can open the bottom (Held on magnetically and sturdily) and add and remove small weights that come with mouse. The weights come with a little case to contain them when not in use, a nice little bonus. I personally like the heavier feel, so I leave all of them in the mouse. As for changing them out, you probably won't even touch the weights again once you get used to a particular weight. Taking just one or two out won't make much a of a difference, so you will most likely put all of them in and never bother with the weights again. All of the buttons feel smooth and crisp, the left-click and right-click buttons aren't too loud, aren't too stiff and feel just right. They also cover a good area of the mouse and the click buttons feel consistent all over, even close to the back where you'd expect them to be stiff. There are 5 extra buttons, all of them feel pretty good in reach, and don't feel awkward like some mice tend to. The scroll wheel feels amazing, each little click is buttery smooth, and the size is just perfect. It's not hard to depress the scroll wheel either, it feels perfect in almost every aspect. The wheel has a feature where you can completely loosen it, allowing you to give it one good scroll and it will continue on it's axis for a real long time. Like I said, it's so smooth, that each little click you get from the wheel just feels incredible. The software is anything but cheep. You can tell the second you open it that it wasn't just an afterthought. Each button can be totally customized, I currently have my two side buttons set to change the volume on my computer. The DPI setting in the software is very acute and specific, but totally easy to work. You can change between 5 different DPI levels without having to even enter the software, and you can change the DPI for each one of those levels. Only need 2 different levels? No problem, you can change the amount to any number ranging from 1 to 5. The software allows up to 3 different profiles, each with different settings (which you can customize, of course), and you can change between these profiles with a click of the middle G9 button. The only button I don't use is the DPI shift button, which allows you to enter a lower (or higher) DPI setting as long as the button is held down by the thumb. It's intended use is for sniping and aiming in FPS games, but I hardly bother with it in that sense.Looks are fairly subjective, but I personally thought that this mouse was sleek and very futuristic. LEDs are always a bonus when it comes to gaming mice (to match the cool LEDs on your gaming laptop), and this mouse has some nice LED features. In the software, you can edit the brightness of the "G" symbol of the mouse, and you can even give it a "breathing" effect. You can tell the mouse to leave the side LEDs on, or to turn them off based on a set amount of time. The 3 lights on the side of the mouse signify your current DPI setting, and the lights will turn dark blue when you are changing your profile. It's not too hard to understand how it works, and it's really neat looking all at the same time. The grips on each side have a cool triangular texture, and are made out of a quality rubber/silicone. It's smooth looking for sure, and it's just as easily recognized as a gaming mouse as that super cool looking cheepo mouse you were just about to buy.The wire on this mouse is really nice, and it's covered by a nice woven fiber material. I've owned mine for a while (about a year), and it starts to eventually become just a little bit coarse, but nothing that effects the quality of the mouse or the wire, or even the look. The USB plug is very nice and smooth, with indentions where the thumb goes when plugging in and taking the USB plug out. The wire shows little to no wear, and I can't see how it would break any time in the next year or so. It's sturdy, and the plug where the wire inters the mouse is nicely reinforced, so it won't short out upon regular everyday use. It's fallen off of the table a few times, and no damage was done to it whatsoever. None of the weights fell out, even though the magnetic cover fell off, and there were no scratches or mares on the mouse after two or three drops. Certainly durable, I feel like my laptop would stop working before my mouse would. The price is perfect. Yes, there are probably nicer mice out there, but none are going to scratch the incredible price of $60/70 of this mouse. No lasers shooting out of the bottom, it's an optical sensor that's been super accurate and responsive, so much that I can actually tell a difference when using cheep wireless mice. The software even has a fine tuning option that will allow you to fine tune your mouse to different mouse pads, allowing you to calibrate your mouse to any surface. The software alone feels like it could be $20, but it comes free and you can just download it from the website, no hassle. I don't think you are going to get a whole lot more performance out of more expensive mice, maybe a few more buttons and cooler looks, but this mouse has what you need for you to improve your game play and overall experience with your computer. Please, I beg of you, save your money and don't buy the cool looking mouse. Rather, buy this mouse and be happy with the performance, the looks and the software. I would buy this mouse again the second it breaks (tough I doubt that will be anytime soon). I prefer this over some more expensive mice I have tried out, including some Razer mice, and they can't beat the price. 10/10, I can't say that I could be happier with it.If you are looking for a gaming mouse that can be extensively customized, every single button except the left and right buttons(more on this later) assigned to whatever you want, adjustable weight, a free-flying scroll wheel that you can spend hours spinning(no really, it's awesome), and a laser so sensitive it detects your every twitch. This mouse is for you. I have loved using this mouse, I adore it really, it is absolutely perfect in every way, except for being used as a laptop mouse. Which sadly means that I will have to retire it until I get my desktop setup built but more on the that later, for now I'm going to focus on the pros(of which there's a LOT) and the cons(a few but significant):Pros:- Can detect your finger bones twitching inside your skin even though your hand itself doesn't move: Seriously when I say this thing is sensitive, I mean it is SENSITIVE. It took a while, and a lot of tweaking the DPI(Which can be set from a guaranteed "You are intentionally feeding" 0 DPI to "Cut down on the energy drinks man" 12,000!!! DPI) in the provided software, before I could get used to this mouse. My crappy little wireless mouse that I used before was stomped on and smashed through the floor by the photon rays from the laser in this mouse no joke.- All the buttons in the mouse can be assigned to do whatever you want them too, except the left, right, and scroll wheel buttons. And technically that only really applies to the scroll wheel button but again, more on that in the cons section.- Extremely comfortable and ergonomic design, I've never felt that my hand didn't fit, the mouse was too small/big, keys are super clicky and give a really satisfying feedback to let you know that yes, you did activate your ability but you still died due to network lag,-The cord is super tough, I mean SUPER tough. Braided and rugged, which is a good thing, unless you use a laptop, but more on that later. Also the cord is more than long enough for most peoples needs, which can, again, be and is a con(to me).- Software included in the box is... nice, but could definitely use some work. Built in game profiles, with more able to be downloaded, a TON of options for shortcuts, whether media keys, web pages, etc. with a dedicated manual shortcut tab able to assign any other shortcuts not already covered in the program. The mouse itself can hold up to 3 profiles in the on-board memory, or an unlimited amount of profiles on the computer hard drive. It's possible to search pre-made profiles and commands that you've made in other profiles and they can be added to whichever button through drag and drop which is really handy. The "G" logo and profile lights on the mouse can be programmed to turn off or on permanently, and the "G" can be programmed to strobe, dim, etc. Though the only color available is blue unless you go for the new version with RGB lighting.- While the plastic may feel flimsy on this mouse, trust me when I say, I have absolutely, completely, abused the heck out of this thing. It has been dropped almost a hundred times already from between 4 and 2 feet, and still works flawlessly-ish. The two buttons attached to the left mouse button where what I assumed would be the first to go due to the fact that they looked quite cheap and easily breakable when i first opened the box, but after spamming them during many a League game(I have them set to my Q and W respectively) I can confidently say they are made of excellent quality plastic, despite their outside appearance.- My last "Pro" for this mouse, and arguably my favorite feature, is the free-scrolling wheel. There's a little button directly above the scroll wheel but below the profile change button that when clicked unlocks the scroll wheel from it's normal slow(compared to the free-wheel, it's not really all that slow) scrolling speed to basically the most amazingly fast scroll wheel you can find. Going to Facebook and unlocking the wheel and spinning it results in posts flying by so quickly you can't even tell what you're looking at, and the ads vibrate in terror of your righteous speed. Five minutes of exhilarating spinning later, you're in August of 2014 digging through crappy memes, but wait, one hard flick of the finger later puts you right back up at the top of your news feed, welcome back to 2016. Seriously though, the wheel will actually give off a loud "whir" sound like an air turbine once you spin it fast enough. Now for the cons, but keep in mind, these are simply my personal views on some of this, though a few of them are legitimate concerns.Cons:- The cord is stupidly long. I'm talking almost six+ feet of braided, rugged cord that does not like to bend at all. And unfortunately for me I use my laptop as an actual LAPtop so I end up wrapping the cord around my monitor, which then gets stuck in the edges and has slowly starting rubbing away at the braids. But I'm not to worried about that, like I said in the "Pros" section, this cord is super strong and durable. But really the cord alone is my reason for searching for a wireless gaming mouse to replace the Proteus Core. It is thick, unwieldy, does not like being bent, and definitely isn't meant to be moved with any sort of frequency.- The software does not allow you to simply copy and paste your game profiles from the computer hard drive to the on-board memory. So if you've spent 3 hours experimenting with different key combinations, creating shortcuts, etc. you will then have to spend another 15 manually changing all of the keys on one of the on-board profiles instead of simply being able to export the profile off the hard drive memory. Which, when you think about it, is really kind of dumb, how hard can it be to create some code to drag and drop a profile into the on-board memory without the hassle of re-creating every keybinding all over again?- Another software related con, when G-Shift is activated, there is still no way to simply remove the left and right buttons in one of the two modes. I can understand not allowing it for the main mouse profile, but if you are holding down the G-Shift assigned button, which opens up another 11 button shortcuts on the mouse, it should be possible to truly de-activate the left and right buttons since as soon as you depress the G-Shift the main mouse profile is back and the left and right buttons would be accessible again. While it is possible to simply move them to say the left and right scroll wheel buttons, it's a cop-out and an annoying oversight to me.- I honestly can't think of another con, this mouse is truly really amazing, it's just that the cord is absolutely awful for laptop gaming if you're actually using your laptop as the name implies you're going to use it. I personally love the Logitech brand, and I'm already looking at several of their wireless gaming mice as a replacement for this one until I get my rig built, then we'll see which one I keep, but until then:If you are using this mouse for ANYTHING but LAPtop gaming, it is almost perfect. Aside from a few personal pet peeves I really do like this mouse, it just doesn't work with my current set-up, but that's just me.Without a doubt Logitech has one of the best after sales service in India! Bought the Logitech G502 Proteus Core a little over a year ago for 4746₹ while on a sale and sadly this month my mouse gave me trouble! The middle click button wasn't working anymore but the usual scroll was, besides that I'd rarely get double click issues. So with a bit of difficulty I contacted Logitech India Support Center and was directed to a nearby RMA service center. I gave it on a Wednesday and was told I'd get a replacement within 2-3 working days (which is good). On Monday I got a message saying to pick it up but Diwali was going on, so I went on a Wednesday again, I gave my receipt upon the logistics counter and I was a little confused why he was holding a Proteus Spectrum (the RGB latest version) in hand so I asked him is this mine? And he said yes! I kept quite and took home the mouse. I later checked online and read that Logitech U.S had also sent the latest version to another customer. I must say this is how all Indian RMA service centers should be all over India and take an example from them. Truly exceptional world class service! For your information the Proteus Spectrum is the same as the Core but with RGB logo lights! Because who wouldn't want a RGB everything PC setup? lol! Now before you run to your RMA service center make sure you have a valid reason/fault with the product as they check it thoroughly on the spot, also it has to be in-warranty purchased from India by you! Good thing is mine came with a 3 year warranty valid thru 2018! About the mouse? What can I say? It's in the enthusiast league I'll just put it that way! Truly the best available right now in the wired league! 5 stars for Logitech overall! If you have the money I'd suggest go for the Spectrum version. P.S: I had a Razer Deathadder 2013 before this and it gave me left double click issues in 10 months so I RMA'd it and got a new one then again same issue only this time after my warranty got over that's just 1 year which is too short for branded electronics, it took 2 weeks for a new one to arrive! I also have a Logitech MX518 which is like 8 years I think? Still works! You cannot even begin to describe what using this mouse is like. It's like the gods themselves said man kind deserved better for our hands. This is such a treat to use and feels like the first time, everytime. It contours extremely well around the hand and the buttons are very thoughtfully laid out. I took me a week to get used to the sensitivity and the motions but it felt so good after I got used to it. The software for it is light weight and does everything you need it to. Add more DPI, more profiles. I am not a big RGB guy so I couldn't justify spending an extra $20 but if you care, its money well spent. The mouse wheel is glorious on free spin mode. Sometimes I just do it for fun. It's practically a fidget spinner. The weight system is simple to use and smart. Everything about this mouse is perfection.I'd give it 4.5 stars if I could.I really like it, but I'm still very fond of my G500 which this mouse has replaced. The points below are comparative to my experience with the original Logitech G500.+ The Weighting system is better+ The Scroll Wheel is better+ The Cord feels more durable+ The mouse feels very similar to a G500+ The matte texture is NOT like the weird velvety-rubberized plastic they use on Razer mice (I hate Razer mice because of this)+ The sides use a rubberized plastic that is not overly-rubber and feels good+ The tops and buttons are a regular plastic which makes it easy to clean- I forsee that the cracks on the side where the buttons and DPI indicator are will be the main source of gunk buildup going forward into the future.- I tend to "accidentally" hit the DPI up button which increases my sensitivityLove the mouse and everything about it. Highly customizable as the included software lets you go ahead and tune it 100% and specify different configurations + profiles for each game. Super durable, feels premium and feels nice to use it for prolonged periods of time and its easy to adjust to from other shapes of mice as well. Definitely a better option to go to compared to the Proteus Spectrum as its cheaper but has everything that has spare for different colours of RGB lighting (this one only has the blue colour for its lightning but it still is customizable). The weights are an added bonus on top for gamers that want a custom weighted mouse depending on their play style and in what directly they might be more inclined to overshoot in, but even without them the mouse works wonders.Mouse was delivered 2 days early, that was great. It comes with good packaging. The mouse itself is sturdy, heavier than my last one so I didn't need to use any weights just yet. It set up fast, the registration is easy. The software and game customization is good. I wish the mouse had a ring finger and pinky rest- the only thing stopping me from 5 stars. My last mouse had this, so the change is noticeable. The magnetic back for weights is very nice. I like the blue LED and my rig is blue LED. I got this on sale for $69.99 from $99.99, and the RGB version was down $90 from $115, not sure if the extra colours are worth it. I was skeptical about the metal scroll wheel before buying, but love it! IT feels solid and nothing like I've ever used before (scroll wheel is probably one of my favourite features). The forward and back side buttons could have been moved up towards the front a little, but the fire / dpi switch button is placed perfectly. I wish the DPI toggle buttoms were under the scroll wheel as it is with most mice, but they can be reprogrammed for games to be useful. All in all, a great mouse. not sure if really worth the extra $40 from my last mouse though, but happy nonetheless.
