I ordered a new Evoluent mouse because my old one’s scroll wheel gave up but it did last for over 7 years. Initially it got me one in 2016 because I had a severe tendonitis around my wrist up to my elbow from working more than 8h/every day using a regular mouse. Since using this mouse I never had it again!I've been using the medium sized version of this mouse for years now. I started when I was getting carpel tunnel, and I think this mouse has helped with that a lot. So I do recommend it over a standard mouse. It does take a little getting used to, as everyone says, but not that much. I spilled wine on my medium sized one so it died (oops!). Thought I'd try the small size this time, since the medium seemed bulky. With the small size, it seems my 3 fingers on the right side are a little crowded together compared to the medium size. I have long fingers, but skinny hands - so maybe I should have stuck with the medium size (I'm what is considered an "average" sized person - not tiny, not huge). I don't think judging which size you want should be based only on the length of your fingers, but how wide your hand is, and how fat your fingers might be. I would recommend this small size if you have tiny hands, the medium size if you have just regular sized hands, and probably the large if you have wide hands, or fat fingers. Now... my only complaint about this new mouse is that the scroll wheel seems cheap and doesn't scroll as smoothly as the last one I had. It still works fine - I'm just saying it's not a good as the older one. I switched the number of lines to scroll to 3 (mouse properties) instead of 2 to compensate for that. I do recommend this mouse. It seems complicated at first with all the buttons and such on there - but I only use the right and left click buttons, and the scroll wheel. Not really sure what the rest are for! So, I hope the manufacturer will upgrade that scroll wheel, and I think the sizing guidelines should include the width of your hand and not just the length of your fingers - but... if you're on the computer a lot, you need this ergonomic mouse over the standard kind. The only reason I'm giving four stars on this mouse is because I'm still trying to get the hang of it. Wrist and forearm pain mandated I get something more "ergonomic," and most "ergonomic" mice are just "hand pleasing" in shape but don't take the stress off of the wrist and forearm. This one makes a HUGE difference in relative comfort, and it's plenty big for a "small" version. My hand is 7.5 inches from wrist to longest finger, and it fits perfectly. The downside is that you really have to retrain yourself to use a mouse. The basics are simple enough, BUT clicks make the pointer "jump" until you learn to use your thumb to stabilize the mouse position. Traditional mice use the desktop as a firm object to resist your downward click. This mouse has nothing but your thumb to counter the "leftward" clicking your fingers are doing. This take a while to get used to. It can be aggravating at times, but in time, you should retrain your hand to reflexively use your thumb while using your "clicking fingers" so the pointer remains stable. Also, the mouse can't compensate for bad body position. I have an ergonomic keyboard that's a tad wider than most. When properly sitting behind it to take the stress off my wrists, the mouse is a bit too far to the right for comfort. I can't do anything about that, but I'm trying to get used to moving my WHOLE ARM when reaching for the mouse so I'm not putting my forearm/wrist back into a poor alignment. Common reaching for a mouse was a forearm action only. Now, I need to learn to use the whole arm so I take the stress off of the sore bits.I WOULD ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT TO SOMEONE WITH WRIST/ARM PAIN. Just remember that there's a large "learning curve" to get accustomed to using it as you were able to use your old mouse. This is PERFECT for people who have small hands and carpal tunnel. Just the right size, comfortable and easy to get used to, and eliminates the pain I was getting from using my computer mouse for extended periods of time. I can’t avoid using my computer because I need to lesson plan and do my coursework for grad school. Definitely helped, 10/10, will probably purchase a second one for my desk at work.I bought six or so of the most popular vertical mice on Amazon, and I found that Evoluent mice are the most ergonomic and well thought out. For example, you only need slight pressure to click a button, which means less strain on your hand. This version (4) is an older version, but the newer version (D) had a laser sensor that was too sensitive and jittery, so I ultimately chose this version. (If anyone's wondering what improvements the newer D version has, it has indents for your fingers, is less spherical, and has a slippery surface to prevent users from gripping the mouse too hard.)This is a lot of money to spend on a mouse so I don't recommend this mouse unless you noticed your wrists getting uncomfortable with a cheaper vertical mouse. Ironically, after buying this mouse, I started using my trackpad more, and I think that's helped my wrist the most. (I select text frequently, and a three finger drag on a trackpad is less strain on my wrist than holding a mouse button down).Best ergonomic mouse on the market. Has worked perfect for over 5 years. The only drawback is it falls off my desk easily, but has taken a beating and kept on clicking. Just started having an issue. It’s double clicking with one click. I’ve checked all the settings and switched mouses so I’m fairly certain the problem is with the switch. I have already ordered myself a new one. If you want an ergonomic mouse don’t miss the best one out there!!I work with a lot of CAD and I had issues with my wrists, because I use computer so much at work. I thought Evoluent mouse will help to solve these issues. It did, when it worked. I only used it for a few weeks, which was enough to get used to it, and it made me realise how uncomfortable my previous mouse was. I was very happy with it, even though it is a bit clunky, and the built quality isn't exactly what i was expecting. However, after 3 weeks, the scroll wheel started to catch on something and click the middle mouse button (actually full on clicking), I contacted customer support and shot a little video for them, they got back to me rather fast, but it seems like they haven't watched a video I sent them. At this moment I realised that the built quality is probably to blame, and I wasn't okay with such an expensive mouse starting to have issues after so little time. I returned the mouse to Amazon for a refund. Maybe I was just unlucky, but I don't think I will be buying it again, even though it was okay when it actually worked.I bought this to replace a wired version I'd had for years but had stopped working after an inadvertent yank to the cable. From an ergonomic perspective it's great for taking the strain off your arm/elbow/shoulder so good for anyone with symptoms of RSI, tennis elbow or other strains. It does take a little getting used to after using a standard mouse but it's worth it; it's second nature to me now but does still give me amusement when it flummoxes anyone trying to demonstrate something on my workstation!fast replacement. A bit difficult to install as I had to remove the software Evoluent, then shutdown, replace battery (just in case), change USB driver, reinstall software Evoluent 4 from evoluent/downloads for my current windows version, switch off and on the green button of the mouse, a bit of a struggle to make it work. It is not compatible with Evoluent3, if you want to have mouses at the same time working, you can't because the drivers are incompatible. They also need to work on the battery as it is not easy to remove.Excellent product. This style of mouse was suggested by my occupational therapist to reduce pain and swelling in my wrist and thumb. The more natural, hand shake posture takes a little bit of getting used to but really makes a difference. Definitely make sure you measure your hand before ordering as I had previously had a normal size mouse purchased for me by a previous employer but find the small one much better even though I am the maximum size for this mouse.2 design flaws which you'd not expect at this price1) The pointer sensitivity is poor. Very jumpy. There is no acceleration control or customisation.2) Thumb rest is highly polished which means it gets sweaty quickly and then grasping the mouse is tiring. There is a reason most mice are "rubberised" or textured.3rd problem is of ergonomics:3) When your wrist is at that angle, it is definitely more natural but comes with a serious drawback: it's now much harder to move the mouse so if your are drawing (say) or have wide pointer movement requirements, you'll get rid of one strain and replace it with another.
